Niiice. This gives me a chance to plot out an actual timeline.

Okay so Gilbert is 4 years older than Ludwig is, born in 1993. His mom also left when he was 5, shortly after Ludwig was born (hohoho I have a post about that if you want me to link it, or you can find it yourself. It involves HRE) and so he grew up with Lud and his father (aph Germania doesn’t have a name yet ugh it’s kind of messing me up) in Berlin, Germany. He also got into a lot of trouble because he was a rowdy kid, and would often be judged for looking so different from everyone else. He ended up in a lot of fights because of people picking on Ludwig for being such a school-focused kid (a N E R D).
He was pretty healthy actually, up until around high school where he wouldn’t get enough sleep and all the energy focused onto art took a toll on him. A lot of his whole “masculinity” issues probably revolved around growing up without a prominent female figure to look up to.
