I’m sure someone’s made this post before, but does anyone ever randomly remember when Virgil was very Disney-villain-esque? Like, sinister and epitome-of-raising-an-unimpressed-eyebrow dark?
Look at this.
This is not my Boy. This is a very sardonic Virgil that feels… not right, not now that we have Our Virgil.
It’s almost like he was playing the part Thomas expected of him???
Like, CLEARLY Thomas didn’t like anxiety (who does), and he treats him like a pest to be rid of, even calling on Roman (or Prince Guy, as he was referred to at the time lmao) to get rid of him entirely. It seems to me like Virgil is just trying to embrace that image – if he can’t make a good impression, he may as well go along with their opinions of him so he’s not always trying in vain to prove them wrong.
But then!!! Then, Thomas realizes, hey, he’s a little overbearing and it still gets on my nerves, but he’s got some good points! And Logan appreciates his quiet nature! And Patton starts to adopt a truly paternal role with him, instead of just the kind courtesies from before!
And then all that’s left is Roman.
Roman, who was called on so soon in the series to get rid of him, who’s hated him since before we even knew he existed, who’s just been trying so hard to not disappoint Thomas. And they fight, and bicker, and call each other names.
But then Accepting Anxiety Part 2 rolls around like a rubber ball in a tropical storm, and Roman realizes just how important Virgil is to the team – Roman is the fanciful side, the hopes and dreams, and yes, maybe sometimes his head gets stuck in the clouds, and it can be nice to have someone to keep him grounded, just like maybe it’d be nice for Virge to have someone lift him up every now and then.
AND THEN WE GET OUR BOY
OUR BOY, WHO NO LONGER HAS TO PLAY THE PART OF THE VILLAIN HE NEVER WANTED TO BE
OUR BOY
Hi this post made me emotional omg
I LOVE VIRGIL SO MUCH
LOOK AT THIS BOY
Just a thing I wanna point:
Who was sent to fight off Virgil? Roman. And that was easily predictable, I mean he is a fighter and he didn’t need much encouragement to help. Roman is based on a typical Disney prince. So Anxiety choosing (or Thomas choosing it for Anxiety since, he wants to get rid of it) that kind of bad-ass Disney villain attitude is kind of a way to fight against Roman. Or: it was Thomas who chose that kind of personification of Virgil because he wanted to get rid of it. And do you know who Dinsey prince’s fight off? Disney villains It also made a lot of sense because prince usually wins against a villain. And the more Thomas is accepting his anxiety, the less villainish Virgil gets because he is not the villain that prince has to fight.
Y E S LEXI i made a post about this!! Roman hated Virgil so much because he saw it as his job to protect Thomas and the others FROM Virgil and he was so blinded by his mission that he didn’t realise the harm that he was doing!! It was only after he’d realised he sort of became the antagonist in his fight against who he thought was the antagonist that he realised his actions were wrong! YES
