It’s your job to fix any breaks or damage to the fourth wall, wether they be minor hints that cause a dent or parts of the wall being entirely shattered. However, as fourth wall breaks become more frequent(people are loving it apparently), you are getting sick of doing your job. Write what happens when you decide to take a break for a whole week.

Wait I missed this story what’s happening? What’s wrong with the kid and why wont they let him leave the hospital or travel to Italy for treatment? What do they mean by sentenced to die?

@matt-ruins-your-shit A child in the UK has a undiagnosed brain disorder doctors don’t know what it is. The parents what to travel to Italy for alternate treatment however the government has blocked them from leaving the hospital and order the child’s breathing tube to be removed. The doctors believed he would die immediately but its been..two days(?) and he hasn’t. So last I heard they weren’t giving him food or water (I think that may have changed but Im not 100% sure). Parents are going through UK court system which keeps denying their request to let their son travel to Italy and say he must die. Italy has provided the boy with a citizenship and a helicopter to get him to the hospital there.
Okay so I read about it a bit more and here are my thoughts. I understand the recommendation to not pursue treatment it happens. Treatment can be brutal and in a lot of cases it’s just suffering piled onto dying which is why palliative care exists. You can’t always save someone. Maybe it’s the right call maybe it isn’t I’m not a doctor.
The part that’s outrageous is that the decision is being made for them. It’s their fucking child and if they want to pursue every option who the fuck are you to say no, order 12 guards to prevent them from leaving without a dead child and deny them the ability to travel. Fuck the UK I hope your burn yourselves to the ground you fucking deserve it.
And the fucking court oh my God these pieces of shit not only keep rejecting their appeals but got pissy with the parents for even trying, making some snarky comment about it not being groundhog day and they don’t get to keep trying every day. They’re son is dying and you’re not letting them pursue options..maybe pick a better spot for a shitty joke you fuckwad.
At the last court hearing, that same Italian helicopter mentioned was waiting at the hospital, ready to fly little Alfie straight to the Vatican hospital they wanted to take him to. They were waiting and ready. Prepared. I have literally been on and off crying over this case for weeks because I don’t want another Charlie Gard. I really don’t.
And the no food thing hasn’t changed. He’s allowed water though from what I’ve heard.
It doesn’t matter if treatment isn’t usually a good option. Its that the FUCKING GOVERNMENT IS DENYING A BABY TREATMENT FOR A BRAIN DISORDER! THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT!!!! I would love to grab some fucking assault rifles and just shoot down the British Government.

He has a mitochondrial disorder that the italians say they cannot treat they just want the cash. Actually look at the court reports which are in the public domain before spouting off.
Its the fact that they aren’t letting him leave to get better treatment. The government is going to let a baby die.
There is no treatment. He has severe tissue loss in his cerebrum and has a mitochondrial disease causing it. Every cell in his body is dysfunctional at a level we cannot fix.
@wierdalien-universe And so the omnipotent government gets to decide how you live and die; who lives and who dies. Talk about dangerous! The Vatican was willing to supply the jet and the medical facility for this baby. That is all the parents want. But the UK government does not want that so the baby suffers as does the parents. Who loves the child more? The government or the parents? Making choices about medical concerns should always be the purview of mom and dad. Not a nameless, faceless bureaucrat or a judge in black robes. Some people are actually dumb enough to think that the government care more about this child and his welfare than the parents.
It should be left up to people who are not experts and have an emotional attachment?
@wierdalien-universe Yes absolutely. Be careful when assigning life and death decisions to “experts” you may end up on the wrong end of their expertise.
There was a young doctor from a wealthy, well respected family. He was brilliant in every way earning his first doctorate before turning 25. He became the leading expert in genetics and earned a second doctorate in medicine with honors just a few years later. He was also very personable, making friends with the politicians, the powerful and the elite, respected and well loved.
Who was this cog in the machinery of government? None other than Dr. Josef Mengele, the notorious Angel of Death. He was the expert physician put in charge of life and death in Nazi Germany. At Auschwitz he would stand on the platform to meet the trains loaded with Jews. There, he as the “expert” that would divide the people into those who would become slave labor and who would proceed immediately to the death chambers.
That is what can become of relying on experts.
Thats why the courts are involved. To, i grant in theory, prevent that. Nobody in this situation wants to kill him. If they did they would have. Oops slightly too much morphine. Oh dear.
Has that happened? No. So no one actively trying to kill him.
And I am more likely than not going to be obe of the experts.
@wierdalien-universe The same honest, forthright and dependable government that has imprisoned the innocent, sanctioned invasions of privacy, rejected the freedom of speech and places armed guards at hospitals to keep parents from getting treatment for their babies. That government? You have more faith in British government than the Pope has in Jesus.

No the police are there to protect staff from protesters who keep trying to break in. Not sure thats fair to the other patients and staff who have done nothing wrong.

This has never been about which country is better (although if it were a contest the US would win hands down). This is about whether it is right or wrong for a government forcing its will, on innocent citizens that just want to care for their baby.

You learn that you can see the future in a glass bottle of soda, but if you tell anyone you will go blind. You see something bad is going to happen to someone special to you within the next week, but you have no idea when.
