(a/n:this is the first of my ax400 connor au. there will be a plot behind the series. i’m sorry this is short but this piece is meant to be an introduction to the series.)
“and this is our last ax400 unit, on sale now for $12000 with monthly charges of $350.” the android associate beckoned you to the platform, where a dark-haired ax400 stands.
you cock your head to the side, feeling a familiarity in its appearance.
where did you see him before? it was doubtful you saw another android like him, as he was one-of-a-kind android.
maybe a human you saw looked like him?
alice tugs at your arm, bringing you back to reality. “i like him (name).”
her words are more than you need to make a final decision.
“i’ll buy it,” you say. inwardly, you feel anxious. this would be your first big purchase beyond college. though technically, it’ll belong to alice as you are buying it to care for her.
“great! what name do you want to register it as?” the associate says as it looks down to its computer tablet.
knowing that it will need to have a simple name, you begin to think. it’s kind of like naming a dog, you tell yourself, but its a dog that can do many things.
“connor!” alice pipes up, looking proud of herself as she said it.
knowing you cannot compete with alice’s quickness, you nod. connor is a good name, simple and pleasing on the tongue.
“ax400, please register your name as ‘connor.’“
with bated breath you watch the android open his eyes. much to your surprise, his eyes are soft and warm. something in you stirs with recognition.
where did you see that gaze before?
as the android repeats back his name as an introduction, you keep your eyes cast to his face. your brows furrow for a moment before you turn to alice. she’s looking at you curiously.
“what’s the matter?” you ask, smiling.
“you know (name),” she begins, voice pausing for a moment as her attention is drawn to connor stepping down from its platform. “you whispered his name under your breath before i said it.”
she doesn’t offer any other explanation before she walks up and takes connor’s hand.
for a moment, you watch as alice leads connor over to you. your eyes meet and you feel as if you are looking into the gaze of someone you once knew.
Absolutely love it! The whole thing was just so good. That last sentence tho… WOAH
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Todaywe take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment.
Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.

We might leave Tumblr and other fandom pages.
And if we’re getting all our content blocked?
You might lose some of your favourite followers/mutuals.
You might not get to read the rest of that fic you’re dying to read – simply because the writer lives in the wrong country.
So do whatever you can to help us stop this.

When everyone reaches the age of 20, they receive a blank piece of paper in the mail. There’s no return address on the envelope. Some try to throw it away but it finds its way back to you. That is unless you burn it. It took people decades to understand the paper’s purpose. It grants one wish, but the wish must come genuinely from the heart
but my parents are homophobic and recently kicked me out of their home. I’m a full time college student and will be renting a place for winter break in my college town. Since they kicked me out I have no vehicle and only the funds I’ve saved the past year. I have an emotional support cat (named Beef) and am on anxiety meds that have made a previously debilitating mood disorder stable.
I’m getting a job but I’d really like some help staying afloat this winter if you are willing to share this post or donate even as little as a dollar to my gofundme.
