things i learned while doing research for my ishizu cosplay:
atem only wears warrior clothing.
note these references:
the pharaoh on the left is dressed in war clothing. the one on the right is ceremonial robes, for public appearances. proper ceremonial attire exists in yugioh because atem’s father wore it, so this was not simply a case of inaccuracy. there are some inaccurate details, but the silhouette is the same.
and it’s not a case of different situations. egypt was at war during aknamkanon’s reign as well. the difference is clearly in personality; aknamkanon tried to negotiate peace rather than fight for it, so he wears the peacetime robes.
as pharaoh, atem has plenty of options and resources to justify other outfits. he is smart enough to use diplomacy, and we know he is honorable and compassionate. but seeing as this guy has no problems killing people, which causes half the conflict in the series, i’m not surprised that he thinks of himself as a warrior first, pharaoh second.
