With the Thief King being a peasant, I always assumed he never learned how to read. My Casteshipping heart loves the idea of Atem trying to teach him how to read. What my heart loves even more, however, is him eventually flipping a table out of frustration and only every learning how to write “The Pharaoh eats dicks” which he promptly graffitis in as many places as possible.
