114082. A food facility where food may
be consumed on the premises shall not provide single-use plastic straws
to consumers unless requested by the consumer. For purposes of this
section, a food facility shall not include the facilities listed in
subdivision (b) of Section 113789.

Single use plastic straws are devastating to the environment. They break into tiny pieces and get washed out into the ocean into our ever-growing Great Pacific Garbage Patch, or even worse, get eaten by birds or lodged into the throats and nostrils of dolphins and sea turtles.
Frankly, it’s high fucking time we took more strict measures to reduce our environmental impact.
