“Whaddya mean she’s angry? How’d ya piss off the literal embodiment of PEACE?!”

“Wait, WHAT??? He pissed off IRENE?? How is that even possible? I mean she’s ducking peace,” yelled Adam as he listened in to a conversation between Josiah and Mark.

“Well, I was just about to explain if you people would stop interrupting me,” said Mark as he panted, most likely from running away from Irene, “what happened was I was playing a game of cards, and Irene came in and asked if she could play with me. I said yes, and we played a few rounds of poker. Side note guys, that girl has an AMAZING poker face, I got nothing out of her. Well, after that I got kind of mad, said she was cheating because she never lost. But then she went berserk and attacked me!”

Then Irene got there. She look furious, “whatever that little devil has told you is a lie, because you are looking at me like I’m a she-devil when that little lying git right there should be the one on the receiving end of your stares. Not me,” Irene yelled angrly, “I don’t care what he told you, here is what really happened. I came into the room where he was and asked to play a few rounds of cards with him. He was playing poker and I thought it would be fun. However whenever I beat him he would cuss and curse me in the most foul language I have ever heard. But when we played the last match he called me an ass and wished my clothes would all turn to dust! Which is why I took so long to chance him and why I am wearing you clothes Adam. So whatever he told you before is a lie or something off of the truth.”

“Wait,” said Josiah, “how do we know who to believe? I mean Irene you’re awesome and stuff but that stuff sounds a bit too ridiculous, I mean all of you clothes turning to dust? But Mark, you and I have been friends forever, but your story sounds ridiculous too. Irene does not simply burst into anger. You know that. So which of you is lying and which of you are telling only part of the truth?”

“She is,” said Mark immediately.

“What???” Yelled Irene.

“Calm down both of you,” Josiah said firmly, “Adam can you figure it out? I haven’t got a clue between these bickering baboons.”

“Yeah,” replied Adam, “it’s pretty easy to figure it out. Mark is lying, but Irene is holding something back. Irene, what’s up? What are you holding in love? You know you can trust me with anything.”

“It’s not that I don’t trust you,” Irene replied, “it’s just not my secret to tell. Trust me if I could tell you I would. But, other obligations are holding me back.”

The whole time she spoke she glared at Mark as if he were the Devil, and Adam quickly caught on to the tension between the two.

“Ok babe,” he said to Irene gently, “I understand, why don’t we go out to get some Starbucks and catch a movie? It will be fun, and we can have dinner at Olive Garden. Then we can come back and have a nice long bubble bath, and get in the nice warm bed. How does that sound?”

Irene seemed to visibly calm as her boyfriend spoke and she allowed him to pull her towards the car while she held his hand. As soon as they were out of earshot however, Josiah turned to Mark.

“What is up with you,” he said angrily, “you’ve been acting so weird lately and Irene has never gotten mad at anyone ever, and yet she some how managed to make an exception for you. Man what is going on??”

“Fine,” Mark replied, exasperated, “she’s already given you so many clues I don’t know how you haven’t put them together yet. I’m Set. She’s Irene. We don’t like each other. Never have, never will. She’s peace, I’m war and destruction. We will never get along and we will never co exist.”

“Wait,” Josiah said slowly, “what you’re telling me is that you’re the Roman God of Chaos and Irene is the Greek goddess of peace, and you hate each other?”

“That’s exactly what I just said,” commented Mark, annoyed.

“Well, since that’s settled,” said a new voice from the shadows that startled both young men, “I think it’s time that we got to know each other a bit better.”

Then a dark figure emerged from the shadows, and as it approached, it got larger, and larger. But when it finally got to Josiah it fell, and revealed Irene, on the floor laughing herself into a coughing fit. But soon Mark was right beside her, laughing just the same. Then Adam entered, laughing just as much.

“What’s going on,” asked Josiah, confused.

“Well,” replied Irene once she was able to breathe again, “you remember when you said we would never be able to pull a prank on you? We finally did it.”

She then continued to laugh hysterically on the floor, and Josiah just sat there dumbfounded on the ground, utterly confused.

The END.
