i really really wish people would write virgil with more traits of anxiety, and not just the anxiousness/worry. like the irritability,
nausea, feeling weak or tired. but its always just the “oh no things are going horribly wrong whoops im magically having an anxiety attack oh no.” you know? just a thought.
Hi I have extreme anxiety. I’m gonna list a whole bunch of things people could include now.
- Digestive issues/stomachaches/vomit
- Loss of appetite/Overeating/switching between the two
- Chest pains ranging from mildly annoying to so severe it literally feels like you’re going to die. And there is a lot of in between.
- Inability to focus during bad episodes/unable to take in new information
- Memory loss/Memory gaps
- Feeling dizzy when you finally remember to breathe properly after days of shallow breathing.
- Randomly waking up in the middle of the night scared for no particular reason.
- Randomly waking up in the middle of the night with an overwhelming fear that you didn’t finish your algebra homework only to remember you haven’t taken algebra for five years.
- Being afraid of starting a task but also being afraid of what will happen if you don’t start the task, so just sitting there anxious and maybe crying. The crying part doesn’t always happen though. Sometimes you just suffer.
- That thing when you’re about to approach someone but then they make eye contact so you just nope right out of there. Just turn 180 degrees around and speed walk the frick away.
- Being on edge and knowing you’re being an asshole about it but too caught up in how scared you are all the time to care.
- Exhaustion/oversleeping/insomnia
- Sensory overload
- During a panic/anxiety attack, not being able to move, a period of artificially feeling calm that’s a bit freaky, difficulty breathing that’s not from hyperventilating, feeling like there’s a clamp on your chest, inability to form complex thoughts, going non verbal, needing to sleep afterwards, crying, feeling like your body is full of lead. Can last from a few minutes to a few hours.
- The difference between a panic attack and an anxiety attack is that a panic attack seemingly has no cause, and an anxiety attack is set off by a specific event. A panic attack and an anxiety attack can look exactly the same or they can be different. My anxiety attacks are completely different from my panic attacks, but not everyone is like this.
- Random numbness in the extremities. Lips, fingers, toes, nose, etc.
- Feeling like your chest is full of angry bees.
