My permanent animal terminology  thus far:

Seal/Sea lion= water puppy
Otter= water kitty
Fruit Bat= sky puppy
Peacock= fabulous turkey 
Spider= land octopus

… I like how the internet has taught me never to call an animal by its actual name. XD
