I’m a teacher and I just want to say this because it’s bothering me..
I don’t want to be armed. I don’t WANT to be armed. I don’t want to have a gun. I don’t think I could ever pull the trigger to kill someone even if I needed to.
I did not choose this career to carry a gun and be ready to shoot someone if necessary. That did NOT cross my mind when I was a little girl dreaming about teaching English.
Please stop speaking for me when you are saying I should be armed. I should not be armed because I don’t want to be armed.
I WANT to just do my job in peace, without being in sporadic states of fear for my life. I want to feel protected and validated in what I’m doing and to feel free to teach my craft and make students better at reading and writing and thinking and trying. A gun on my person is not going to help that. It’s not going to make me better at my job.
I think you might have good intentions, but the words are not adding up right to me. I don’t want a gun. I want safety. If I were up against a shooter, I don’t think a gun in my hand would keep me or anyone else alive against an AR-15, and that is me speaking personally.
So. While you’re out here preaching on a soapbox from the comfort of your own home while you go to a job tomorrow that is probably not on a mildly open campus full of 1200 students… Please stop saying I need a gun.
I need safety. My kids don’t need me + a gun to be happy or successful or alive. They need me + safety.
Please try to get it right.
This this this. While I’m no longer teaching, I’m still working at a school. If another person tells me I should just be armed, I may scream.
I don’t want to carry a gun. I don’t want the responsibility that comes with what carrying a gun to work means.
I say this as someone who lived with a police officer. Do I know how to handle a firearm safely? Yes I do. Do I know how to shoot at a paper cutout or clay pigeon because I had weapons in my home? Yes I do.
That doesn’t mean I want to carry one at work or shoot a living being.
If pollen is essentially plant sperm, that would make allergies like stds, and since no one voluntarily accepts pollen entering their body, we are all being raped by plants.
America: That no one likes him, that he isn’t the hero, that he actually is stupid…
England: that he really is unattractive, that everyone actually hates him, that he isn’t important at all…
France: that he actually sounds arrogant, that he isn’t as attractive as he thinks (though this is only some days), that people don’t like being around him Canada: that people actually forget him, that he is too quiet and boring
China: that his family really hates him, being alone, not being strong enough.
Russia: that he actually terrifies people, that people really and truly hate him, not strong enough
Scotland: that people only see him as a drunk and/or an abusive person, that he won’t make anything of himself, that he is a disappointment to his family
Austria: “Keep your eyes closed..” This would be one of the only times a year that Roderich completely plans out a day. He’d start the day off by actually taking his s/o out for a nice breakfast, but when they get back in the evening, he’d have thrown a small party for his s/o filled with their close friends (set up by either Elizabeta or Feliciano). He’d even try and spoil them with presents…just for their special day.
Germany: “Now open!” Ludwig would really try his best to organize a fun birthday party for his s/o. He would want to invite their friends and make sure everyone had a good time. Ludwig would even try to have some fun himself and not be so uptight. He would also make sure to have the perfect gifts for them, since he would be planning for months in advance.
Romano: “What do you think?” Lovino would try to have a semi-private birthday. He wouldn’t want to spoil their day with his attitude, but he wouldn’t want them to be upset if he didn’t invite their friends….so Lovino would invite a few of them over and be on his best behavior. He also would make sure to spoil them with presents and a very nice dinner, just to make their day a little more special.
Spain: “Feliz Cumpleaños, mi amor!” Antonio would go all out for his s/o’s birthday! A big party! Lots of presents! Everyone over! Food and drinks all night long! He would even serenade his s/o with a song he wrote for them on his guitar. Overall, Antonio would plan the biggest fiesta possible to make sure his s/o has the best night and never stops smiling.
Prussia: “Let’s celebrate! Come on!” Gilbert would do anything for his s/o on their birthday. They want a huge cake? They are getting a huge cake. They want a mountain of presents? Then a mountain will appear! Gilbert would do whatever they wanted just so their special day is as awesome as they are. He also would throw the biggest party possible…though he may get help from Francis just to make sure the party goes right.
England: “Happy birthday, love.” Arthur is a rather simple man, so he would prefer to celebrate his s/o’s birthday at home. Though he would make sure they have a wonderful birthday dinner wherever they wanted, a good amount of presents that are equally thoughtful and useful and a nice date wherever they wanted to go. Arthur would do everything in his power to make sure his s/o was happy and had a wonderful birthday.
Germany: “Is there anything I can do?” Ludwig would really want to help them as much as he could. If there was anything he could do, he would want them to tell him so he could help. Ludwig would always make sure that they are taken care of, but would try not to coddle them. Though if they ever wanted…Ludwig would gladly read to them.
Prussia: “So, ready to go out?” Gilbert wouldn’t let him stop them too much. He would always take it a little easy and would help them out by giving them vivid descriptions of what is around if they need it. Also, he would totally offer to get them a dog to help out. Though he would love to sit there and read to them some nights…it would be one of his favorite things to do.
Spain: “Are you all set?” Antonio would always try to make sure they positive and would never let the get discouraged. He would offer to help in any way he could and would always be reassuring them. Antonio wouldn’t see it as something to hold them back, but as a challenge they could overcome together and be stronger. He would love to tell them about what they see when the two go out.
Romano: “Just…be careful, okay?” Lovino would always be a little nervous and would be very protective over them, but wouldn’t want them to think he was coddling them or pitying them. He would try to make things as easy as possible, without being too overbearing. Though if he ever was, he would hope his s/o would tell him and he would apologize. He would only be worried so much, because he cares.
2p Canada: *raises an eyebrow as he crosses his arms* “Having fun there?” Matt would think it was adorable. He would just watch them for a moment before clearing his throat and looking at them as he slowly raises an eyebrow. He would be curious as to why they are doing that, but if they were having a good time and put all of his flannels back when they were done, then he could care less. Though a little later he would ask them why they were doing that, not in an accusing way, but more curious.
