Virgil isn’t the only dark side turned light.
Roman was hidden from Thomas as well, until the latter accepted his sexuality and his love for “gay” things like Disney and Theatre.
That’s why Roman disliked Virgil at the beginning of the series. It reminded him of the time with the other dark sides
